Michael Griffin

CO-FOUNDER (currently Board Member emeritus)

Michael Griffin is a Boeing 757/767 pilot employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc. His commercial aviation career has spanned over twenty-five years, where he has flown both domestically and internationally. Prior to joining the airline industry, Michael served in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Air Force where he flew numerous helicopters and aircraft. His military career spanned nearly seventeen years.

Born on June 8, 1956, to Clinton and Susie Griffin in Detroit Michigan, Mike attended Doty Elementary School and Northern Senior High School. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Resources from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science Degree in Management from Troy State University.

Upon graduating from the University of Michigan in April of 1979, Mr. Griffin entered military service in Quantico, VA, where he was assigned to the Marine Corps Officer Candidate course. After commissioning as a Marine Corps 2ndLT, Michael received orders to the Naval Aviation Training Command in Pensacola, FL where he earned his Navy Wings. He did two Mediterranean deployments while attached to the Marine Corps.

Michael is an Eagle Scout (with bronze palm). His military decorations include the Air Medal, Coast Guard Commendation Medal, and Air Force Commendation Medal. He is a co-founder and Secretary of the General Daniel Chappie James Flight Academy of Pensacola, FL. Michael’s activities and hobbies include; swimming, travel, photography, and woodworking.

Married to Paula Griffin, he and his wife reside in Madison, WI. They have 3 children and 2 grandchildren.
