Tim Hooks

Timothy Hooks is a first officer at American Airlines, flying the Boeing 737 aircraft. His aviation career has spanned over 20 years. In the mid 80’s he became fascinated and curious about aviation, and it was during that time he decided to train to become a private pilot. He completed all training required for commercial instructor certifications in both single and multi-engine land aircraft.  He has taught as a flight instructor at both Ferguson Flying Service and Pensacola Aviation Center. In June of 2001, Timothy was hired by Allegheny Airlines as a first officer flying the DeHaviland Dash 8 aircraft. Allegheny eventually merged with Piedmont Airlines, where Timothy flew for seventeen years. Eleven of which were as captain on the DeHaviland Dash 8.

Timothy was born and raised in Pensacola, FL. He attended the University of Florida briefly and then returned home to complete his requirement for an AA Degree at Pensacola Junior College. He worked at Federal Express, FedEx, in Pensacola in the mid-’80s.

Timothy discovered the Chappie James Flight Academy in 1996 when he met the four co-founders. Today he is the Secretary of the organization. His activities and hobbies include; traveling, fishing and hunting.

Married to Armer Hooks, he continues to reside in Pensacola, FL. They have 4 children and 7 grandchildren.

When asked about his “aviation career” Timothy says, “I never had any intention of becoming a professional airline pilot. But once my eyes were opened to the benefits of an airline career I could not say no to the industry”.

Timothy’s message to anyone who will listen: “You may not have a clear picture of your future today, but stay out of trouble, watch who you keep company with, and stay receptive to the bountiful opportunities that will surely come your way”.
