First Officer Timothy Hook

Secretary/Treasurer

Timothy Hooks is a first officer at American Airlines, flying the Boeing 737, with over 20 years of aviation experience. His interest in aviation began in the mid-1980s, leading him to train as a private pilot and later become a commercial instructor for both single and multi-engine aircraft. He worked as a flight instructor at Ferguson Flying Service and Pensacola Aviation Center. In 2001, he was hired by Allegheny Airlines as a first officer on the De Havilland Dash 8. After Allegheny merged with Piedmont Airlines, Timothy flew for 17 years, including 11 years as captain on the Dash 8.

Timothy was born and raised in Pensacola, FL.  He attended the University of Florida briefly, then returned home to complete his requirements for an AA Degree at Pensacola Junior College.  He worked at Federal Express, FEDEX, in Pensacola in the mid-80s.

Timothy discovered the Chappie James Flight Academy in 1996 when he met the four co-founders.  Today, he is the Secretary/Treasurer of the organization.  His activities and hobbies include traveling, fishing, and hunting.

Timothy Hooks reflects on his aviation career by stating that he never initially intended to become a professional airline pilot. However, after discovering the benefits of an airline career, he was unable to resist pursuing a path in the industry.

Timothy Hooks encourages others with the message: “You may not have a clear picture of your future today, but stay out of trouble, be mindful of the company you keep, and remain open to the bountiful opportunities that will come your way.”

Married to Armer Hooks, he continues to reside in Pensacola, FL.  They have 4 children and 7 grandchildren.
