Mayor Grover Robinson IV Visits The Academy

I had a great time this morning visiting the General Daniel “Chappie” James Flight Academy and Chappie James Museum, where students are currently participating in the Flight Academy’s weeklong summer camp. The camp introduces young adults to the field of aviation, both in the classroom and through hands-on activities and field trips.

I encouraged these students today to keep the momentum and the initiative they are clearly demonstrating by choosing to participate in this program, which will undoubtedly help them succeed in the future. Regardless of whether they end up with careers in aviation, the skills they learn during the Flight Academy such as public speaking, teamwork, and leadership, will set them apart as leaders in whatever career they choose.

We are certainly excited about the future of aviation in Pensacola, and my hope is that these bright students will choose to stay in Pensacola if that is their career path. Whether it’s commercial airlines, ST Engineering, or the military, I am confident that aviation job opportunities will continue to be available right here in Pensacola.

I also had the opportunity to get a tour of the Chappie James Museum, which highlights the life legacy of General Daniel “Chappie” James. We are lucky to have this asset in our community.

Thank you to the Flight Academy and Museum for your hospitality this morning, and I wish all of these students success and bright futures.

Mayor Grover C. Robinson, IV
