Catalina Ann Rios

Dear Family & Friends,
I could not have completed my four years without the help of my family, friends, countless mentors, and most importantly my mother, Sara N. Rios. It was through her encouragement and guidance I now stand before you all as a FirstGeneration University Graduate. It has been my honor in laying down the pavement for other generations to follow but my journey does not stop here. For those of you who know me, know that I have a big heart and feel it is my responsibility to not only give back to my family & friends but also to my country. My postgraduation plans include receiving my private pilot’s license and pursuing an aviation career as an Officer in the United States Coast Guard. I have been asked multiple times for my ideal graduation gift and I respond with this; for those of you who do not know, General Daniel “Chappie” James Jr. has played an important role in my life, but it is the words of his mother that kept me going. Lillie James once said, “Don’t stand there banging on that door of opportunity, yelling let me in ‘You stand there armed with your bags of knowledge, your bags of understanding, and your bags of desire and when they crack that door, step in and take charge.” My family & friends the only gift I ask is for any monetary assistance to pursue my career in aviation. I ask you to help crack open the door of opportunity for I am ready with my bags packed. I have created an account with AMS Flight School located at Peter Prince Airfield in Milton, Florida. Instructions to donate can be found on the back of this page.

With Gratitude & Love,
Catalina Ann Rios
